William Vollmann’s new book, Imperial

I’ve been admiring Vollmann’s work for a long time, first his 7 volume book of violence, Rising Up Rising Down, then his book on poverty, Poor People–he just keeps cranking out one interesting and timely book after another. His new book, Imperial concerns the Imperial Valley of California. It has a companion book of photos coming out from powerHouse Books , the same press that put out Dark Night of the Soul, the Dangermouse, Sparklehorse, David Lynch collaboration, which I just received in the mail this week and am a little scared of.
